How To Get Traffic And Exposure Using Video

Studies show that viewers retain up to 95% of a message when you watch it in video compared to just 10% when reading text. Not only that, but more than 50% of viewers will watch an online video for six minutes or more if the content is compelling, making online videos the highest viewed form of content online. Why do we still live in a world where text content reigns supreme?

Well, the short version is that with a mouse you need to use a lot of energy to move from one place to another and the information can be easily forgotten. With a good video you can sit and move around your living room, you can listen to the audio and it will be easy to access key information on the screen.

But then, how do you get people to take your video so you can make money from it?

YouTube has been the biggest online video marketplace since it launched back in 2005. Since then thousands of videos have been uploaded and millions have been watched. But, now the game has changed a bit.

YouTube is no longer the only game in town. There are now also sites like Metacafe and Daily Motion to match the success of YouTube. The most important distinction between YouTube and these other sites is that you can submit your videos to all of them once you have created them. This means you can upload the same video to more than one site. Which means, you can get your video viewed on more than one site, spreading the SEO juice between multiple sites. And more than likely get the word out to other site owners that you are an authoritative resource that can back up your claims. But with more than one site to upload to, how do you get people to take your video?

1. You have to make it interesting - If the video is dull, you will not get views. But you must make it interesting. Making a dull video will not help you. You have to grab your viewer's attention. You have to make it stand out from the crowd. The best way to do this is to write a script with keywords that describe the video you are making. You can do this right then publish it to YouTube, Meta Cafe and/or Daily Motion.

2. Make it short and to the point - Nobody wants to watch an hour long video. You cannot make a long video interesting. If you want your video to be watched, you have to make it short. You have to be concise. And you have to make it the best short video possible. Don't worry about making it perfect. But do worry about making it short.

It is my belief that video marketing is one of the best techniques for increasing your business visibility. There are many ways of getting traffic and exposure on the internet. Search engines are the biggest way. But video is the second biggest way after Search engines. And it works! Video is the best way to get traffic and exposure. It is a viral video. It is what makes you a video star.
